Australian Bush Budgie

Check out Australia Zoo’s Australian Bush Budgie

Don’t miss the chance to get up close and personal with our gorgeous Australia Bush Budgie’s here at Australia Zoo. Take a walk through our Grace’s Bird Garden and keep a look out as they might fly right above your heads. Crikey!

Categorised by a bright green and yellow plumage, these small parrots are often found across most of mainland Australia. The Bush Budgie likes to forage for seeds, nuts and native grasses, and you might even see them in flocks of up to 100! When it comes to breeding, this species will mate for life, and will build their nests in cavities of branches, tree trunks or even old fence posts!

Despite their small size, these mighty birds will fly significant distances to head north during winter. The Australian Bush Budgie is considered to be nomadic, and flocks will follow seasonal patterns or migrate to where seed is most abundant.

The Australian Bush Budgie is very adaptable and thrives in various habitats. They are a species of least concern. Woo-hoo!
