‘Humpback Whale’

This image captures my first encounter with a humpback whale in Cabo San Lucas. It was an inspiring and unforgettable experience. Witnessing this magnificent creature is a powerful reminder of why we should protect our oceans and preserve these giants for the generations to come.

Location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Camera/Lens: Nikon Z8, Z14-24 mm lens

Highly Commended: Eilidh Shannon | 13 Years

‘Colourful and Curious’

I was at the cliffs near my home watching the razorbills fly past when this little puffin popped its head out of its burrow and stared very curiously at me. I think the puffin was interested in my camera, as it just sat and stared until its family came back!

Location: Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Camera/Lens: Canon EOS R7, 150-600mm lens

Finalist: Sora Miyazawa | 14 Years

‘Mangrove Predator’

Along the coasts of Southeast Asia, a unique ecosystem thrives. Among these mangrove trees lies a stealth predator, hiding amongst the branches. Crocodiles play an incredibly important role in maintaining this wondrous coastal ecosystem.

Location: Singapore
Camera/Lens: Nikon Z6iii, SIGMA 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary

Finalist: Sora Miyazawa | 14 Years

‘Golden Hunter’

As the sun dips below the horizon along the coasts of Hokkaido, a lone Ezo red fox gracefully roams its territory, where the fox roams freely, a rare reminder of nature’s untamed beauty. Its stunning orange fur shimmers under the golden light, as it readies itself for another successful hunt.

Location: Hokkaido, Japan
Camera/Lens: Nikon Z6iii, NIKKOR 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens

Finalist: Sora Miyazawa | 14 Years

‘Songs of Spring’

As the sun rises in the mountains of Japan, the forest transforms into a chorus, heralding the arrival of spring time. In the heart of the woods, a Eurasian wren performs its enchanting melody, one of the most vibrant songs in these woodlands.

Location: Karuizawa, Japan
Camera/Lens: Nikon Z6iii, NIKKOR 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens
