From koalas to green sea turtles, the Australia Zoo Rescue Unit is dedicated to rescuing all wildlife in need. Providing a free service to the community to rescue sick and injured wildlife.

Steve Irwin began crocodile research in the 1980s and his capture and study techniques remain the world’s best to this day, these findings have contributed significantly to the knowledge base of crocodilians.

In partnership with the University of Queensland (UQ), Wildlife Warriors manages the largest and most successful croc research project in the world.

Australia Zoo plays a vital role in the ongoing fight for wildlife conservation through zoological programs such as the endangered species breeding program.

From our backyard in Beerwah and arid western Queensland to the far north in Cape York Peninsula. The mission is to protect and preserve Australian native wildlife and wild places.

Steve had a vision for conservation where people and wildlife could live harmoniously alongside one another. Each and every one of our conservation projects supports this vision.

The task of saving wildlife seems daunting, but by aligning our consumption habits with our values, we can work towards Steve’s goal to ‘save one, save the species’.

Volunteers come from all walks of life to join the Australia Zoo crew. Our volunteers play a pivotal role within the zoo environment, providing valuable support to our keepers and guests.

Wildlife Warriors was established by Steve and Terri Irwin as a way to include and involve other caring people in the protection of injured, threatened or endangered wildlife.

The annual Steve Irwin Gala Dinner celebrates the life and legacy of the original Wildlife Warrior – Steve Irwin. All proceeds from this fundraising dinner go to Wildlife Warriors.
