Australia Zoo has an exciting opportunity available for a Cash Handling Officer to join our Accounts team in a Part Time Capacity! The successful candidate will work a standard 32-hour week, and will have flexible hours to work around your schedule, for a 12 month period!

The Cash Handling Offer is primarily responsible for all cash Handling of Australia Zoo and will included all banking, change orders and petty cash maintenance.  You will be responsible for the up-keep of the EFTPOS terminals, and will provide some admin support to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable areas.

A successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to work in a high performance environment, with a capacity to deliver all requirements of the role, a great work ethic and the ability to work to a high standard within the team.

Primary Duties –

  • Resolve any cash balancing discrepancies in daily till counts & POS Systems
  • Daily change orders for Foodcourt and Retail tills
  • Prepare weekly change orders for Australia Zoo
  • Processing daily clearances for Australia Zoo
  • Daily banking – cheques and cash
  • Assist with weekly Wildlife Warriors cash banking
  • Daily Fraud identification and cancellation of fraud tickets
  • Investigating and responding to bank chargeback requests
  • Maintain petty cash and expense reimbursement
  • Maintain ATM operations and cash holding
  • Preparation of cash reports as required
  • Continual and ongoing improvement of processes and procedures for cash handling
  • Maintain banking stationery (deposit slips, bank bags etc)
  • Maintain online payment portals Windcave, Paypal and ANZ eGate
  • Process payments and refunds for online payment portals and online shop
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Australia Zoo EFTPOS terminals and POS integration
  • Assist with investigating and resolving processing and system errors in POS
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable during AR officer leave
  • Assist with Accounts Payable during AP officer leave
  • Understanding and competency in basic data entry functions
  • General Administration including Photocopying/Printing and collating paperwork

Essential Criteria –

  • Hold current Driver’s Licence
  • Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods
  • Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Criminal Record Check must be undertaken prior to employment
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role with exposure to cash handling mandatory
  • Ability to work co-operatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Quick and willing learner
  • Respect for confidentiality and privacy of information and files
  • Sound computer skills (Microsoft suite) with advanced skills in excel favourable

Preferred Criteria –

  • Current 1st Aid qualifications
  • Any other relevant certificates involving Leadership, Training, WHS
